How to Sell Plato’s Closet for the Most Money?

We are glad to see you all again! Plato’s Closet is a store that sells teen/young adult clothing. Plato’s Closet is a store that sells clothing for teens and young adults at a fraction of the retail price.

There are nearly one location in each state. They allow you costco food court to not only purchase clothes but also allow you to sell your clothing for cash.

Plato’s Closet is a great store. However, their purchasing process often gets them negative reviews. People are complaining about their products in large numbers.

Today’s blog post focuses on how I can walk into any Plato’s Closet with $25-30 more in my pocket. There’s more to the operation than you might think.

The Bottom Line

Plato’s Closet offers a 30% to 40% discount on your items when you bring them in. If you bring in jeans shorts you purchased for $20, they can only give you so little.

Do your Research

Plato’s Closet locations are different. Their stores look very different when I visit Metro Atlanta than they do in south Georgia and west Georgia.

Urban centers are more likely to stock streetwear brands like Nike, Fashion Nova and Boohoo. Rural stores tend to be more open to western/southern brands such as Miss Me and Southern Tide.

Follow them on Instagram to do your research about a store you might want to sell to. This is a great way to see what the store sells and what they might buy. Explore!

However, online pictures can only show so much. Sometimes, you may need to visit a physical store. Take a walk up and down each aisle to see the inventory.

I once took a lot more jeans than usual to a Plato’s Closet that didn’t stock them in my size. They took them all. Although this isn’t perfect, I have had far more success with it than others.

You can go big or you can choose the right time. Or, you could just stay home

Although this may seem obvious, make sure that you bring enough clothes. I bring two medium-sized bags and one large bag (either a Goodwill or Kohls bag).

People bring large suitcases full of clothes food bazaar and boxes. I have seen them, but I prefer to keep everything in a small retail bag. It makes it much easier for people to go through my clothes. The most money I make is when I have at least two bags of clothes.
